What if...

we all united to eliminate childhood hunger in Kettering and the surrounding communities?

What if...

you could sponsor a meal for a child for a day, a week or more?

What is the Summer Lunch Program?

Throughout the school year, Christ Church is a partner in the Kettering Backpack project that provides nutritious weekend meals for 350 elementary school children who receive free or reduced-price lunches. But, hunger doesn’t follow the school calendar and kids who are home for the summer still get hungry at lunch time.

The Kettering Partnership for Healthy Youth is coordinating an effort in the J. F. Kennedy Elementary School area to provide a nutritious lunch for kids (ages 1- 18) during the summer break. This program is targeted to those children who regularly receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year.

Up to 75 children will be served a healthy, balanced lunch from the parking lot of the Trails of Oakcreek Apartment complex between 12 and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday each week during the summer. Following Federal guidelines for summer lunch programs, the lunches will be easy to bag and distribute and must be eaten right there at the location.
