The Spirit of Taize: The Taizé service offers a space to simply listen to the voice of God speaking deep within our heart. The prayer or worship services are unlike ordinary prayer or worship services. Instead of coming together to talk to God, we gather to listen. Rather than talking about the Scripture, the Scripture is read and left to speak for itself in the silence. By singing simple songs of prayer over and over again, the mind calms and the soul opens up; God speaks and the heart hears.

A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The Labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools.
There is no right way to walk a labyrinth. You only have to enter and follow the path. However, your walk can encompass a variety of attitudes. It may be joyous or somber. It might be thoughtful or prayerful. You may use it simply as a walking meditation.
Some general guidelines for walking a labyrinth are:
1. Focus: Pause and wait at the entrance. Become quiet and centered. Give acknowledgment through a brief prayer, bow, nod, or other gesture and then enter.
2. Experience: Walk purposefully. Observe the process. When you reach the center, stay there and focus several moments. Leave when it seems appropriate. Be attentive on the way out.
3. Exit: Turn and face the entrance. Give an acknowledgement of ending, such as "Amen."
If you have never walked a labyrinth, or are not sure of what your focus should be, there are brief guides available for your walk and shepherds to answer any questions you may have.
